Antje Monshausen

ANTJE MONSHAUSEN holds a Diploma in Geography. After gaining first working experiences in Guatemala and Bolivia she started working with Tourism Watch at Church Development Service (former EED, now Bread for the World) in 2008 and was later responsible for financial support of international organizations.

Since 2012 she is Head of Tourism Watch at Bread for the World at the Protestant Agency for Diakonie and Development (EWDE).

Antje Monshausen is chairwoman of the international multi stakeholder initiative Roundtable Human Rights in Tourism e.V, vice-chair of the children’s rights organization ECPAT Germany, and a member of the certification council of TourCert. Further, she is active in the international initiative “Transforming Tourism” in which civil society organizations from all around the world are demanding the transformation of tourism in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Tourism Watch is part of the policy department of Bread for the World. With its special desk the development organization of the Protestant Churches in Germany advocates, together with ecumenical partners, for sustainable, environmentally sound and socially responsible tourism development and publishes the information service “TourismWatch”. Some of the main topics of Tourism Watch are climate justice and tourism as well as human rights in tourism. Also concepts of corporate responsibility and accountability are representing a major field of work. Tourism Watch is in constant exchange with several European and international partners and seeks a critical but constructive dialogue with politics, businesses and media.
