Prof. Dr. Eberhard Kurz
Dr. Eberhard Kurz started his professorship „Digitalization in Tourism and Transportation“ at University of Applied Sciences in Worms in March 2019. The professorship is interdisciplinary between the faculties Tourism and Computer Science. Innovative, digital solutions for passenger and cargo transport of the future is a focal point of Professor Kurz in teaching and research.
Professor Kurz has more than 25 years of experience in travel, transportation, tourism, and logistics industry and shaped in management functions and in consulting the digitalization of this industrial sector. He served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Deutsche Bahn AG (German Railways) and Thomas Cook West Europe. He also has many years of experience in management consulting through his work at McKinsey & Company and Arthur D. Little. During his time at SAP he was able to get to know the manufacturer and provider side of IT. As part of his work at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, he realized innovative IT projects in the field of AI. He received his doctorate in 1996 on a topic in software engineering. He studied mechanical engineering with a focus on applied computer science at the University of Stuttgart and the University of Arizona, Tucson.
